Old mirrors tend to get dark spots over time due to different environmental conditions. But my explanation for this phenomenon is that the mirror stores moments and personalities that it has seen and reflected and that manifest themselves in these spots. To show the stories behind the mirrors, the lacquer layer on the back is removed in a special process. The result is a mirror with two reflective sides – one silver and one colored.
The shape of the hand mirror allows the viewing of both sides of the mirror and the conscious examination of one’s own reflection in the face of the material’s past. The resulting color of the second mirror side depends on the particular mirror and its age or condition. The other side of the mirror remains untouched.
