SISSI SJÖBERG

We surround ourselves with many things of which we do not know how, where and under what conditions they were produced. Many of us don’t care either, as the furniture is only meant to be decorative anyway and will give way to the next trend. The SISSI SJÖBERG hanging shelf is designed for long-term use and communicates craftsmanship techniques in a timeless design.

The design is deliberately limited to minimalist use of materials and geometric shapes. A symbiosis of Scandinavian simplicity and Viennese craftsmanship tradition. The focus is on the braided circles on both doors, which celebrate the handiwork in this object and provide a glimpse inside. The timeless design and the choice of high-quality natural materials make the hanging shelf a long-lasting companion.

The hanging shelf is made of white ash and does not use any metal at all. The surface is treated only with white oil and partly finished with water-based varnish (white). A combination of traditional and modern wood joints adorns the carcass and the frames of the two sliding doors. The Viennese wickerwork was woven by hand into the circular recesses, just as was done for the seats of the famous Thonet chairs.
